Most mines and process plants have belt cleaners or scrapers on their conveyor belt head pulleys. These cleaners are expected to reduce or eliminate carryback from building up underneath a belt conveyor. However many of these facilities still battle the problems of carry back. hey are plagued with belts that mistrack, they are replacing other components prematurely, and they are spending unplanned or excessive manpower to clean up. This increases risk of injury to workers…all from belt cleaners not meeting their expectations. There is more to resolving carryback than scrapers. This presentation will offer specific tactics on how to prevent carry back and the problems it causes. It will discuss practical techniques that can be implemented and have an immediate impact on plant safety, profitability, and belt tracking. It will also provide long term strategies to increase production and decrease cost of operation.
